The group’s ordeal gives us a rare insight into the human condition under stress, and, while immobilized on the edge of the mountain by extreme weather, we share the tensions that afflict the group’s solidarity – threatening the dream of attaining the summit itself.

Travailleurs migrants mexicains : regard sur la réalité de leurs proches qui restent au pays. Au rythme du moulin à maïs, du travail aux champs, de la préparation des repas et surtout du temps qui passe, Je serai là nous transporte au cœur du quotidien de cinq habitants de San Isidro Aloapam qui composent depuis de nombreuses années avec l’absence de leurs proches. Dans la petite communauté située dans l’État d’Oaxaca au Mexique, la terre, pourtant fertile, est de moins en moins cultivée. Parce que la concurrence américaine dévalue le prix du maïs mexicain, les paysans doivent paradoxalement aller cultiver la terre des producteurs agricoles des États-Unis. Ainsi, la plupart des familles de San Isidro Aloapam ont recours à la migration afin de subvenir à leurs besoins.

Le Récit d’A is several stories that evolve in the same video, parallel universes that echo each other without ever crossing paths. Andrew’s story, the travel diary, the thought of Edmond Jabès are all elements of the game… I use autobiographical traces (the “scanner”, the Super 8) to talk about a more vast; the existential trace of the Jabès desert and the desert of the 90s; our youth devastated by AIDS, my life deserted of its youth. The video also speaks of the gaze, of this consciousness which changes and of what can open up, even in the face of such an apparently fatal outcome. – Esther Valiquette

Extenderis is an experimental tape constructed like a contemporary psalm. It reflects on the origins of life and the archiving capacities of DNA. The tape revolves around the thesis of Richard Dawkins’ book The Blind Watchmaker (1987), which proposes that humans, like all living beings, are temporary receptacles of an eternal code: DNA. . We serve DNA, not the other way around. This idea obviously shocked the anthropocentric model and was considered heresy in the scientific community. In this sense, Extenderis is a heretical psalm.

In the course of the routine mechanical failures associated with her work, Laurie meets and eventually wins over Lorenzo, the owner of a bike shop, an Italian ex-racer. His recollection of the good old days of continental road racing, complete with flashbacks to his 60s era peloton, will reawakens Laurie’s racing spirit.
