BIOGRAPHY

Virginie Nolin, screenwriter, director, and lecturer, explores feminist and queer issues through hybrid narrative approaches. She won the Iris for best short film at Quebec Cinema Awards ceremony 2024 and the Jury National Grand Prize at the Festival du Nouveau Cinema 2023 for her short film Summer 2000 (co-director: Laurence Olivier). She has directed four short films selected in several international festivals and produced over ten shorts that have toured worldwide (including Locarno, New Directors New Films, and TIFF). She is currently developing her first feature film as writer-director, an adaptation of Mikella Nicol’s novel Aphelion, which tackles the banalisation of violence against women. Additionally, she recently completed a master’s thesis with ‘Outstanding’ distinction, addressing issues of representation and exploring the feminist-queer approach in cinematic creation.
