BIOGRAPHY

As an emerging documentary and fiction filmmaker, Romy Boutin St-Pierre writes, directs and produces short films addressing the pervasive power dynamics in intimate relationships as well as at the societal scale. With a bachelor of international relations, a diploma in Arabic language and two years of experience as a video journalist at Radio-Canada, her interests in a plurality of perspectives led her to pursue film studies and projects in Quebec, Lebanon and Morocco. In 2023, Romy and her colleague Lisa Bolduc co-founded Les Émotives inc. production company, which puts forth local feminist independent films. Comme toi is their first production. Her short film Amato (2020, selected for the Regard Festival and 12 others) seeks to deconstruct stereotypical conceptions of polyamory through three intimate testimonies, in a continuity of the relativism and quiet feminist outlook that underlies her work.
