BIOGRAPHY

Laurence Olivier is a filmmaker and author originally from Quebec living in British Columbia. She won the Iris for Best Short Film at the Gala Québec Cinéma 2024 and the Grand Prix National du Jury at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma 2023 for her short film Été 2000 (codirected by Virginie Nolin). Her short Phantom Poem received the first experimental prize at the Vues dans la tête de festival (2023). Her novel Répertoire des villes disparues (Herbes rouges, 2015) was adapted for the screen by Denis Côté (Ghost Town Anthology, 2019), and her poems, nonfiction works and short stories have won awards in Canada and France. Both in her writing and in her filmmaking, she is interested in formal experimentation.
