BIOGRAPHY
Marie-Hélène Viens is a director and screenwriter. She works primarily in tandem with Philippe Lupien. Their short films Bernard The Great (2013), Amen (2016), and We Are The Freak Show (2017) have been screened at nearly a hundred festivals and won some fifteen awards, in addition to being sold around the world. You Are Not Alone (2024), their first feature film, was released in 27 theaters in Quebec after premiering at TIFF, where it received an honorable mention from the jury for Best Canadian Discovery Award. It was also a finalist for the Jean-Marc Vallée DGC Discovery Award and the Prix RÉAL 2025. The film won Best Film at the Not Film Festival in Italy. It was also distributed in a few theaters in France. And it received five nominations at the Gala Québec Cinéma: Best First Film, Best Supporting Role (François Papineau), Best Editing, Best Music, and Best Special Effects. The Viens-Lupien duo is currently collaborating on their second feature film, Zipper, which is in the financing stage. They are also working on the development of their next projects.
