Venue de la campagne pour visiter une amie, Solange (Margot Campbell), 75 ans, redécouvre Montréal. Elle parle à tous avec confiance et fait quelques portraits de gens qu’elle croise. Elle rencontre Tom (Paul Ahmarani), un homme plus jeune, morose et désabusé. On prendrait bien de la vie encore un autre petit bout, encore un peu de beauté malgré tout ce qui n’a pas d’allure.

Dans la soixantaine, Rita Bilodeau vit seule dans une petite maison en bordure d’un ruisseau. Elle se dit bien décidée à vieillir heureuse, joyeuse et libre. En sa compagnie, nous découvrons les dames du club de Scrabble, Roger et son commerce de pièces d’auto, les tournois de poches, le jardin de Berthe, les oeuvres de Jacinthe… une vie de village qui recèle son lot de surprises. Un film d’observation qui fait réfléchir sur le vieillissement et met en lumière ce fait démographique qu’avec l’âge qui avance, plusieurs femmes se retrouvent veuves et seules; même quand elles sont majoritaires dans leur groupe d’âge, elles restent peu visibles socialement.

Myriam, une jeune femme juive originaire du Maghreb vit à Montréal depuis dix ans. Selon son copain Théo, elle parle trop et elle en fait trop, c’est pourquoi il la laisse tomber alors qu’ils devaient s’acheter un appartement. Myriam se réfugie chez sa grande copine Madeleine, une musicienne extravagante qui lui redonne le sourire avant de partir, elle aussi, pour une tournée. Mais il n’y a pas que des départs, le père de Myriam revient à Montréal pour la retrouver après une absence de vingt ans. Il retrouve aussi un vieil ami, Marco, avec qui il reprend d’anciennes combines. Comme si la vie de Myriam n’était pas assez chambardée, Lou, un jeune poète-squatter tente de la séduire par tous les moyens. Puis, Madeleine revient et Théo change encore d’idée…

Around 1840, some of the Inuit tribes still have never met any white people, but they hear about where they come from, what they want do and the reason. In summer, two isolated families meet each other again, the young people get married, the elder tell stories to the young, they are planning for the food that can help them spending over winter. Although everything seems goes well, Ningiuq, an old woman of strength and wisdom, cannot stop worrying. She thinks that the surrounding is unstable, so she wants to think about her life. Before Tomorrow is the story of a woman who demonstrates that human dignity is at the core of life from beginning to end, as she faces with her grandson the ultimate challenge of survival.

Anna is feverish when she arrives with her son Tomas in Igloolik, a small community located in the Canadian Arctic. As a young teacher, she had an adventure there with her son’s Inuit father. Now 14 years old, Tomas was born and raised in Montreal, with his mother, and therefore knows very little about his Inuit origins. This brilliant and solid teenager would like to learn more about the culture of his father, but the latter, who disappeared in unknown circumstances, is no longer there to guide him. For Tomas’ mother and the paternal family circle, the joy of reunion is overshadowed by the painful memories of a brief episode in their common history. Over the course of two weeks that seem to merge into one endless day under the midnight sun, Anna and Tomas will strive to reconnect with this family they can no longer ignore.
