C’est aussi le jour où son père fonce par exprès dans un mur avec le jeep de sa mère. Catherine traverse l’adolescence en même temps que ses parents amorcent un processus de divorce. Elle s’en fout. Elle est trop occupée à gérer Mélanie Belley qui la terrorise pour absolument rien. C’est en lui volant son chum Pascal que Catherine monte l’échelle sociale de la polyvalente. Catherine a hâte de tout connaitre. L’exploration ne sera pas douce ni romantique. De Pascal à Keven, d’une dérape à l’autre, elle vieillit dans le chaos violent et spectaculaire de l’adolescence grunge des années 90.

Today. Northern Quebec at the beginning of winter. Mani, an ambitious lawyer in her 20s, returns to her remote Indigenous community and realizes that many outdated paternalistic laws are still in force. In hopes of emancipating her people, she proposes a radical referendum to end the prohibition of alcohol. This is catastrophic for Laura, a 45-year-old bootlegger who has been smuggling illegal alcohol onto the reserve for years. Mani’s and Laura’s opposing forces quickly divide the community into two clans who must come face to face to determine the best path to independence.
