Au rythme du moulin à maïs, du travail aux champs, de la préparation des repas et surtout du temps qui passe, Je serai là nous transporte au cœur du quotidien de cinq habitants de San Isidro Aloapam qui composent depuis de nombreuses années avec l’absence de leurs proches. Dans la petite communauté située dans l’État d’Oaxaca au Mexique, la terre, pourtant fertile, est de moins en moins cultivée. Parce que la concurrence américaine dévalue le prix du maïs mexicain, les paysans doivent paradoxalement aller cultiver la terre des producteurs agricoles des États-Unis. Ainsi, la plupart des familles de San Isidro Aloapam ont recours à la migration afin de subvenir à leurs besoins.
