BIOGRAPHY

Monia Chokri trained as an actress at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal. She began her career in the theater and then went on to film Les Amours imaginaires and Laurence Anyways by Xavier Dolan. While pursuing her acting career, she directed her first short film, Quelqu’un d’extraordinaire (2013), awarded the Best International Short Film, Youth Jury at the 66th Locarno International Film Festival. She directed her first feature film, La Femme de mon frère (2019), awarded the Coup de coeur du jury Un Certain Regard in Cannes. She completed her second feature film, Babysitter (2022) selected in the Midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival.
