BIOGRAPHY
A leading figure in Quebec genre cinema, Izabel Grondin plunges fearlessly into the dark recesses of the human psyche. A feminist voice who rejects traditional constraints, she specializes in psychological thrillers and horror, crafting visceral films driven by raw emotion. Several of her short films have screened around the world and won numerous awards. Her short film The Table reached the semifinals of the 2014 Jutra Awards and racked up over 4 million views before it was forcibly removed from her YouTube channel. In 2004, she released Temporary Madness: Trash and Insidious Tales, the very first DVD compilation of horror and fantasy short films in Quebec, followed in 2015 by Temporary Madness 2: Murky and Deviant Tales. Her work has been the subject of several retrospectives.
She is currently working on her first feature film, Hors-Piste, a psychological thriller currently in the funding phase, as well as directing her 17th short film, Fortune Cookie, a black comedy. She also shares her passion for genre cinema and screenwriting through panels, conferences, and masterclasses.
