BIOGRAPHY

Clara Prieur is a filmmaker, actress, and contemporary dance performer. She is a graduate of the Conservatory of Dramatic Art of Montreal, and she conducted research in film studies at the University of Montreal. She obtained a master’s degree in theatre studies from Sorbonne Paris III, and a diploma from the École normale supérieure (ENS Ulm) in Paris. Her artistic approach is characterized by a feminist awareness and a dialogue between art forms.

As a director, she has produced a number of dance films, including Salir (Exit), co-directed with Corinne Spitalier, La mer en soi (The Sea Inside), co-directed with Kes Tagney, and her first fiction short film, Memento Mori, with a predominantly female team. The film had its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in the summer of 2024 and its European premiere at the Final Girls Berlin Film Festival. It won the award for Best Production Design at the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival. It was also a semi-finalist at both the Mirada Corta Short Film Festival in Mexico and the New York Indie Shorts Awards. Clara is currently in post-production on her second fiction short film.
