BIOGRAPHY

Baharan Baniahmadi is an Iranian-Canadian artist located in Montreal. She is well-known in Iran, Canada, and the Middle East for her TV series and feature films. After graduating from Tehran’s Art University with a BA in theatre, a BA in Paris, and an MA in philosophy and art from Paris-8 University, Baharan began her acting career in France, where she collaborated with numerous prominent stage directors such as Ariane Mnouchkine, Fabrice Nicot, Amirreza Koohestani, Izumi Ashizawa, and others. As a multilingual actor, she has performed in roles in English, French, Persian, and Arabic.

She moved to Canada in 2018 and was a finalist in the 2019 diversity auditions organized by Diversité artistique Montréal (DAM). She could reestablish her credibility in the sphere of cinema and art in Canada and Quebec almost immediately. Baharan is a known filmmaker and awarded writer too. Her short film My name is Saba has been selected to BUEIFF Channel (Buenos Aires International Film Festival), The Stone Flower Youth Film Festival (Russia) ,Kalakari Film Fest (India) and the Serbia International Youth Film Festival. She has also served as a jury member at in numerous festivals and was awarded several Canadian and French grants.

Baharan is also a published author with two awards, the New Contribution Literary Award (2023) and The Paragraphe Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction (2021) awarded by Quebec Writer Federation (QWF) for her first novel Prophetess.
