BIOGRAPHY

Amélie Hardy is a Quebec filmmaker who is now considered one of the most notable filmmakers of her generation. Her films (A Wolf in the Suburbs, Hello Stranger, Comment devenir riche, Épanoui et détendu, Notes sur la mémoire et l’oubli, La vie heureuse, Train Hopper) have been screened at prestigious international festivals, including SXSW, Hot Docs, Palm Springs, and Kurzfilmtage Winterthur. Her first feature film, Overthrow, will open the FCVQ in September 2026.

In recent years, her work has been recognized with, among other honors, two Best Documentary Short Film awards at the Gala Québec Cinéma, a Canadian Screens Award for Best Documentary Short Film, the Canadian Grand Prize and the International Critics’ Prize (FIPRESCI) at REGARD, as well as the Best Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award at the RIDM, in addition to several international accolades. Combining humanity, a flair for storytelling, and an inventive approach to depicting reality, his films stand out for their perspective that is both sensitive and daring.
