Kàsàleo, la révélation

Kàsàleo: The Revelation is a documentary miniseries that takes us to the heart of the life and teachings of Jean Kabuta, a professor from Rimouski who was born in the Congo during the colonial era and later raised in Belgium by his white adoptive parents. Over the course of the episodes, we see how Jean forged a deeply rooted identity through the practice of kasàlà, a form of poetry practiced in his native Congo, whose words aim to affirm an individual’s place within their lineage and community. Jean takes us on a journey through his world, exploring history, colonization, acculturation, and the search for identity. He invites us to Rimouski, Montreal, Brussels, and Kinshasa to meet men and women of diverse backgrounds who share a common interest in learning and practicing a contemporary form of kasàlà that is deeply integrated into their personal and professional lives. Kasaleo: The Revelation is a moving journey through time and cultures that reveals, with great humanity and poetry, the transformative power of kasàlà.
