The Carré Saint-Louis is the poetic soul of Montreal. It is to Montreal the equivalent of La Place du Tertre in Paris ; a small urban park haunted by the spirit of many artists who helped forge Quebec’s cultural identity. It was that little square who was emerging across the frost garden at Émile Nelligan’s window. The documentary Carré Saint-Louis invites you to a poetic and historical incursion in the little history of this emblematic square which for more than a century was a place where converged bohemian, marginalized, artists and the most fervent independentists.
