BIOGRAPHY

Myriam Berthelet is a documentary filmmaker and screenwriter. In 2025, she co-directed Baie James 1975: The Clash of Nations (Baie James: Le choc des nations), her first feature-length documentary, which explores Hydro-Québec’s rapid expansion through the construction of the La Grande complex and the awakening of Indigenous nations in northern Quebec (Cinémania Festival 2025, Special Jury Mention). She also directed AI: Blind Spot (IA: l’angle mort), a documentary on sexist biases in artificial intelligence. She also directed On Call 24/7 (De Garde 24/7), an observational documentary series about doctors in a hospital setting. Over the years, she has directed several other projects, such as Holding Hair Salon (Tenir salon), about the immigration journeys of hairdressers; The Life-Sized City, which profiles citizens around the world who are making their cities more humane; and the podcast Polytechnique Project: Cope With (Projet Polytechnique: faire face), in collaboration with the Porte Parole theater company. She is fascinated by people and loves to tell their stories with sensitivity and humanity.
