BIOGRAPHY
Emilie Racine is a puppeteer, director, and filmmaker. She designs and animates various types of puppets — giant, fragmented, inhabited — to tell wordless stories driven by materiality and movement. Emilie Racine is the co-artistic director of the theatre company Territoire 80 and the founder of the interdisciplinary production company Création Vivante. Between 2012 and 2020, she initiated seven productions as creator and producer, some for the stage and others for outdoor performance, presented in Quebec, France, Mexico, Brazil, Tunisia, Madagascar, and West Africa.
From 2020 to 2024, she created a polyptych work entitled Perséphone, which brings together performances (WSD Calgary 2022, Artch 2022), a short film (FIFA 2024, FEFF Best Animation Award 2024, distributed by Vidéographe), and an exhibition (presented at the Lìzé Puppet Art Colony in Taiwan in October 2023). Her work was featured at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2023 (Québec Pavilion, APASQ).
