BIOGRAPHY

Passionate about genre literature and cinema since childhood, Marie-Claude Béchard writes short stories and fiction scripts that blend horror, drama and fantasy. In 2007, she studied cinema at Institut Trébas, then screenwriting at UQÀM, and has since continued to perfect her skills through workshops, training courses and conferences, notably at INIS and Main Film. For over 10 years, she has been passionately writing and directing short films, with a style and universe all her own. Several of these films have been selected at renowned festivals such as Fantasia, Regard, Les Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma and Le Festival du Cinéma de Québec. In 2021, she took part in the Canada-wide Course des régions and directed the short film Nos cendres (Our Ashes). The film went on to win 4 prizes in the final of the competition. Marie-Claude is currently working on the development of several fiction projects, including the feature film Nos cendres (Our Ashes) with MRGenre Productions, the feature-length drama Fuir dans la tempête (Fleeing in the Storm), as well as several short films and fantasy short stories.
