BIOGRAPHY

Sara-Claudia Ligondé is a director and photographer from Montréal, Québec.

She directed her first documentary short, Rest is a Right, as part of the emerging filmmaker program Being Black in Montreal. Produced in collaboration with the National Institute of Image and Sound (INIS) and the Fabienne Colas Foundation, the film premiered at the Black Film Festivals of Montreal, Toronto and Halifax in 2019 and 2020.

Studying at the bachelor’s degree in film production at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, her cinematography talents include the Starcross music video for Fireball Kid and Ura Star, as well as promotional and corporate videos.

She directed her first short fiction film titled La Donne as part of the 2021 Kino Kabaret, and was mentored by Anik Salas, president of Réalisatrices Équitables, thanks to the support of Telefilm Canada. The short film is currently touring international festivals.

Sara-Claudia’s work goes beyond identity politics. Passionate about philosophy, her artistic practice emphasizes vulnerability and lyricism.
