In 1816, aged 19, she wrote Frankenstein, the first published fantasy novel, during a stay near Lake Léman in the company of romantic writers Lord Byron and Shelley. She died in 1851 without having realized that she had given birth to one of the most important myths in Western culture. Sunken into oblivion for more than a century, it still remains unknown to the general public today. However, the life full of twists and turns of this free and avant-garde woman is as exciting as her masterpiece. So much so that the life of Mary Shelley and her novel seem inseparable. Where does reality begin and where does fiction end? This partially dramatized documentary tries to answer this question and paints a surprising portrait of this woman of letters that we are rediscovering today.
